“My girlfriend and I just got back from Cuba and we did a walking tour with Joaquin. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of the whole trip. From a logistics standpoint, he doesn’t charge what he could (meaning it won’t hurt your pockets) and he’s super accommodating to whatever your goals are for the tour.
From a personal standpoint, Joaquin is a marvelous individual and a wonderful human being. He gives you the ins and outs of what it means to be Cuban in Havana and, if you’re willing, he takes you out of the comfort of Old Havana and into the depths of talk Cuban society. He’s not shy about answering questions regarding Cuba’s history and government, including intricacies and difficulties faced by Cubanos today.
“hey hey! i actually just got back from cuba and had a wonderful time thanks to Joaquin! My friends and I spent a week and it was definitely not enough. Joaquin was an amazing guide and had so much knowledge about the history and day to day life of the Cuban people. He was always available for questions and giving us a local’s perspective as well as his advice helped us greatly. Thank you so much Joaquin for everything and i hope you did well on your exams!”
“I went to Cuba in November, I was in Havana for two weeks and booked Joaquin for two days. As a photographer I wanted to document real life in Cuba, I was fed up by other tour companies/guides only offering tours that covered the touristy spots. So I was really happy when I found him on reddit.
If you are not only interested in monumental sculptures of communism or Centro Habana with its devastated buildings housing happy people, if you are a sociologist, Marxism or communism enthusiast, people lover or history admirer you have to CALL that number.”
“We went in December last year, Joaquin met us in Havana and was an excellent guide, I can’t recommend him enough. He showed us more than just the common touristy stuff with his local knowledge. he was really helpful and understanding when my wife was ill so we had to cut the tour short and resume it the next day. The little things, like the taxi advice, is really good for first time tourists.
“I went to Havana in October with my dad and honestly, the highlight of our entire trip was meeting and touring with Joaquin! He is such a nice and genuine person and gave us such a unique perspective into REAL Cuban life and culture that we never would have found ourselves. His tour of basically ALL of Havana was so great and easy and interesting, definitely worth it. He also gave us great advice on local transit, food and day to day Cuban life! If anyone is considering travelling to Cuba, reach out to Joaquin & support the locals!!”
